The EVGA DS Superclocked 015-P3-1587-AR ($509.99 list) is a video card based on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 chipset, the fastest available on single-GPU cards. It is based on 512 CUDA?processing cores.
As its name suggests, this EVGA card is overclocked to provide additional performance. The graphics clock has been upped from 772MHz to 797MHz, the processor clock from 1,544MHz to 1,594 MHz, and the memory clock from 4,008MHz to 4,050MHz. As is standard for?GTX 580?based cards, this EVGA version contains 1,536MB of GDDR5 memory, which runs over a 384-bit memory interface.
The EVGA DS Superclocked 015-P3-1587-AR supports?DirectX 11 technologies (including tessellation), as well as OpenGL 4.1.? It also works with the full range of proprietary Nvidia technologies, including the aforementioned CUDA (for parallel processing), 3D Vision (for stereoscopic 3D), SLI (for linking multiple cards for improved performance), and PhysX (for advanced discrete physics processing).
You can connect displays (up to 2,560 by 1,600 in resolution)?to the card using either of the two dual-link DVI-I jacks or the single mini HDMI jack on the card's I/O bracket. The card must be installed in a PCI Express x16 slot, and needs?to be placed?adjacent to an empty slot?that will?accommodate its oversized heat sink.? It also requires two connectors from a 600-watt-or-better power supply: one six-pin and one-eight pin.
